People playing chess at a social gathering in a dimly lit venue with graffiti on the wall and string lights overhead.
People playing chess outdoors on a city street, with a man standing and observing the game, surrounded by spectators and a street scene with a building and a billboard.

built by us and the community

we started check mates because we wanted a space full of people where showing up solo felt completely normal, and a game of chess does the rest.
